THE CHALLENGE

We wanted to commemorate 7 years of RideLondon – the world’s greatest festival of cycling – with a celebratory and informative graphic. There was a lot of data to visualise: statistics, the route maps and route elevation of the three event distances on offer. It was certainly a challenge finding a solution that would clearly display the three route options on one map!

THE SOLUTION

We created an infographic aimed at all interested cycling parties – competitors, avid cyclists, and keen onlookers alike. We also produced a short animation of the cyclists navigating Richmond Park, which was a key landmark on the cycle route and a short drive from our Studio at the time. The colour palette for both of these was inspired by the Prudential RideLondon brand colours (bright red and navy) which we took one step further, using different shades to bring the illustrations to life.

It was wonderful seeing the team unleash their creativity for this self-directed project. The illustrations convey a lot of technical information but still have a playful and refreshing feel to them.
